Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

COD 4 is my top pick for first person shooters this year by far. The amount of variety that is packed into this game is absolutely incredible. The beginning of the game when you seeing through the eyes of a kidnapped president really draws you in. You are driving in a car and you get to watch terrorist activities as you drive by. In the end of the mission you are put up against a pole and shot in the face on national television! Later on, (my favorite mission) in the mission "all ghilied up" you go back in time to when captain Price was early in his military career. You can either follow Captain Macmillan and covertly get to your vantage point, or go in and storm the area and try to eliminate enemies. All in all this game kicks ass and is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

Wolf Parade- "Apologies To The Queen Mary"

A very trippy sound is incorporated with the guitar and drums. The keyboard is mainly the reason for this. The way the lyrics are sung is very unique and odd in a way. Almost like The White Stripes. It is a very Indie genre band with loads of indie drum beats and guitar riffs. This is also a depressing sounding album with a minor sound to a lot of the songs. They pump it up at times with faster paced depressing songs for the people who like to rock out when they listen to songs. "Apologies To The Queen Mary" is very well done in my opinion and I would reccomend it if you are a true Indie fan and would runs the gamet on different music.

The Walkmen- "Bows and Arrows"

The Walkmens natural sound of the whole album is a kind of depressing but hopeful tone. They have a very dreamy sound combining very musical melodies and sort of a "asking" tone in the singers voice. This CD is a good choice to listen to if you are going through a break-up or just plain old hard times. That is the best thing about Indie music, it seperates you from everything else and puts you in your own world. The Walkmen really conquers that objective with "Bows and Arrows." If you like a more depressing sound in your music taste, then this album will treat you well. If not, then I would recommend it for the hard times in your life.

The Average American Male- Chad Kultgen

After reading this book, Chad Kultgen has become my favorite author. Even though this was his first book, I think he will come out with something great soon. The Average American Male Takes you on a journey through a mans head and what goes on in it. 99% of the things a man thinks about is sex and woman therefore 99% of the book is about sex and woman. The way he writes about it is so raw and indelicate but that is the way the male processes it in their head. They don't choose their words before they think. Instead they think as they go and sometimes say it. This book is my favorite book because it is unlike any other books out there. The style of writing is not in proper style, it is in a type of journal style. I strongly recommend this book for people ages 16-30. I think the elders would find this book very vulgar and vile but that is what people our age wants to see and read these days.

Vampire Weekend

When I think of Vampire Weekend, I think of the smell of a brand new CD because their music is sounds so new and different from everyone else. I think the main thing that sets these guys apart from everyone else is the awesome keyboard melodies. It has a Napoleon Dynamite feel to it. Ezra Koenig, the guitarist and singer, puts his words and guitar riffs together with so much ease and smoothness. The whole band together at a show is something else to watch as well. They are sooooo good live its not even funny. They seem like they are someone you would want to be best friends with because they have so much style and individualism. Some of the clothes they wear on stage are so ridiculous you wonder how could anyone have enough balls to go on stage in front of thousands of people and not feel embarrassed. That is what is so awesome about them is that they don't give a fuck about what anyone has to say and think about them. I think that is the best way to go in the music business I mean, you can't make everyone happy. If you don't pick up this CD then you are really missing out on something great and possibly groundbreaking in the music world.

The Fratellis- "Costello Music"

The Fratellis have really done it this time. Their album Costello Music is one of my all time favorite poppy Indie album ever. The very first track "Henrietta" starts it off with a welcoming into many great things to come. In fact it does when "Flathead" starts up and rocks your socks off with its fist pumping riffs, beats and freezes. To play that song live would be just a blast jumping to and just freaking out on stage. One song has a kind of hawian feel to it with a type of ukelele sound that makes you feel like you are sitting on the beach, listening to the waves crash while you drift of into your own paradise. That is what I imagine anyways. All in all "Costello Music" is an intense album by The Fratellis and I strongly recommend you pick this one up ASAP.

Tokyo Police Club-"Elephant Shell"

Tokyo Police Club does a phenomenal job with their latest album "Elephant Shell." The raw sound of the bass in a lot of the songs really adds to the ass kickin. There is an all around depressing sound to the whole CD but then really listening to it, it actually is very inspirational. The song "Tesselate" is a very good example of this. All of the unique riffs and drum beats make this album as Indie as Indie could ever be. The way the lyrics are sung are also uniquely mastered in this album. The combination of background lyrics incorporated with lead are also fantastically composed. If you are looking for something to listen to in your car, grab this CD and you will be happy you did. Indie fans could not possibly dislike this band.
